Yooperliet is een unieke soort gesteente that glows under ultraviolet light. It is not easy to distinguish it among other stones from the shore since it doesn’t attract attention in the broad daylight. But when illuminated by UV light,the yooperlite rock changes completely.

The glow of yooperlite comes from the sodalite within the rock. Different institutions and geological scientists have backed the claim with laboratory experiments. When exposed to the light of UV, especially of 365 nm wavelength, these yooperlite stones burst into vivid shades of orange-yellow, deep crimson, or soft pink, with each piece displaying its own distinctive effect depending on its mineral composition.
